Alcian blue 8GX is a large conjugated dye molecule recommended for histological staining techniques. The cationic dye is used to stain acidic polysaccharides, certain mucopolysaccharides, and acidic mucins of tissues. It stains both sulfated and carboxylated acid mucopolysaccharides, sulfated and carboxylated glycoproteins.
